Our Story

From vision to practice — building community-focused regenerative agriculture in the heart of the Midwest.

About Rock Creek Agroforestry

Rock Creek Agroforestry LLC was formed in the fall of 2023 to acquire a 10-acre parcel from Iroquois Valley Farmland REIT, located just west of Peotone in Will County, Illinois — about one hour south of Chicago.

The 450-acre Rock Creek Farm campus was assembled through five separate transactions from 2012 through 2019 by Iroquois Valley Farmland REIT, with the 10-acre farmstead parcel acquired by RCA in January 2024.

Today, Rock Creek Agroforestry serves as a public demonstration site for regenerative practices — showcasing how trees, diverse plantings, and community investment can transform Midwest agriculture.

The Agroforestry Commons

A new model where nonprofit, for-profit, and land trust partners work together to create lasting impact.

Demonstration & Stewardship

Long-term stewardship of productive, biologically diverse windrow and riparian buffer networks that showcase what regenerative agriculture can look like in the Midwest.

Habitat Reconnection

Reconnecting novel habitats representative of the endangered native prairies and savannas that were once the largest and most diverse contiguous ecosystem on the continent.

Permanent Protection

Permanently protecting windrow and riparian buffer networks as part of working farmland — held in trust for community benefit through conservation easements.
